Majors and minors in German go on to teach at the university, high school, middle school, and elementary levels. The American Association of Teachers of German is the premier professional support organization for high school German teachers, and it maintains an ongoing list of available teaching positions; at the moment, the demand for German teachers exceeds the supply. 

Our graduates also go on to the best MA and PhD programs in the country, and pursue a wide range of career options afterwards, including becoming professors. We also offer an in-house 5-Year BA/MA Program for our own undergraduates. Some graduates of this program go on to earn the PhD in German in our own graduate program or at another university; others pursue high-school teaching, work for non-profits or government organizations, or work in the financial sector.
