UPCOMING EVENTS

Students, faculty, staff, and the public are cordially invited to the European Union Center's EU Day 2009 on October 21, 2009 at the Alice Campbell Alumni Center. The topic is "Green Sweden," in recognition of Sweden's presidency of the EU fall 2009.

PRESENTATIONS

Professor Yasemin Yildiz was an invited participant in the roundtable on "Cosmopolitan Anxieties: Turkish Challenges to Citizenship and Belonging in Germany" at the German Studies Association in Washington DC on Oct. 11, 2009.

Molly Markin presented the paper "The GDR Museum as a Mediation of Memory" at the German Studies Association meeting October 8-11, 2009 in Washington D.C. She also moderated the session "The GDR and Its Legacy: History, Music, Space, and the Environment."

WEEKLY DEPARTMENTAL ACTIVITIES

This semester, the Deutsche Konversationsgruppe will meet on Wednesdays from 1-3 PM in the cafe of the new Institute for Genomic Biology. The IGB is the first building east of the Morrow Plots, and the cafe is in the downstairs level on the west side of the building.

This semester, the Swedish Coffee Hour will meet at 5pm on Fridays at the Espresso Royale Cafe on Goodwin and Oregon.
