Fruchtbringende Gesellschaft Lecture: Thursday, March 5 at 5:15 p.m. in the Lucy Ellis Lounge (FLB).  Corina Lacatus, Visiting Lecturer of Swedish and Scandinavian Studies in the Dept. of Germanic Languages and Literatures, will give a talk entitled "Migration and its Discontents: Ethnicity, Identity, and the Visual Arts in Western Europe.”

Announcements

"Neues-Curriculum" is a new electronic, peer reviewed journal for best practices in higher education German studies. It facilitates a dialogue about innovative projects, highlights successful programs, and describes other 'best practices' in German cultural, historical, linguistic, and literary studies. http://www.neues-curriculum.org/

Weekly Departmental Activities

The IPRH Reading Group "Language and Social Interaction" will hold its weekly data sessions this semester on alternating Fridays and Tuesdays. Anybody with background or interest in conversation analysis is welcome. The next meetings will be held Friday, March 6, 1-2 pm in 4080A FLB and Tuesday, March 10, 5-6 pm in 4080A FLB. The Deutsche Konversationsgruppe will be meeting this semester on Wednesdays from 1-3 at the Bread Company on Goodwin Avenue. Come by for a relaxed opportunity to practice German. All levels are welcome. Contact: schwink@illinois.edu The Middle High German reading group is getting together Fridays from 1-2 in the departmental library to enjoy various gems of Middle High German literature or at least textual material. All are welcome, levity is assured.
