Undergraduate Program

Welcome to the Business German Homepage of the Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures. We offer a Commercial German Track for our majors. In addition to taking language and literature courses in German, students take GER 320 German for Business and GER 321 German for Economics and can elect to take supportive course work in business and economics. GER 320 is offered in the Fall and GER 321 is offered in the Spring; both courses are offered also as part of our exchange program with Vienna.

Internships and Jobs

As part of the Austria-Illinois Exchange Program, several students have completed internships in Vienna with various organizations and corporations. The 0Career Services Network and the student organization AIESEC can also help locating internships abroad. In addition, various organizations not affiliated with the University of Illinois organize internships for a fee. The Career Services Network provides an excellent compilation of resources for students looking for employment.

Additional Qualifications

The Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) offers the Certificate Program Global Business Culture with Area Specialization The Goethe Institute offers a business examination ‘Zertifikat Deutsch für den Beruf’ – The Courses in our program prepare students for this examination.
